Deburring
Deburring is an essential part of the manufacturing process, which eliminates irregularities and ensures a smooth, contaminant-free surface. Burrs can not only be dangerous, but they can slow down airframe production processes, causing stoppage times and, if undetected, leading to compromised function and, hence safety, of the aircraft. If not removed, burrs can cause mating parts to misalign, which can affect tolerances; there is also potential for burrs to block punched holes, thereby impeding connections and preventing the essential circulation of air or lubricants.
